Other exiting developments taking place this season: Culture and food – An epicurean epicentre In addition to the wealth of existing restaurants, fooderies and cafés, notable additions for this season include a new bakery in Lech and the official opening of the Roots, Arlberg Chalets’ new restaurant in Wald. Serving traditional Austrian dishes with a modern touch, it officially opens on the 25th November. As ever the Arlberg has more than enough events and celebrations happening throughout the season with Lech being extremely busy. The end of November sees the 11th European Media Summit in Lech. Leading media representatives, politicians and intellectuals will be discussing alternatives, constructive ideas and solutions to some contemporary issues. December welcomes back Fantastic Gondolas to transform the cable cars in the centre of Lech into works of art with installations, famous DJs, live visuals and gigantic large-scale projections. And what would December in the Alps be without a traditional Germanic Christmas market. Skyspace-Lech – Dreams made real After three years of intense planning it’s finally happening: Skyspace-Lech, a light-flooded space on the mountain, designed by the American artist James Turrell will be built. Designed by the American artist James Turrell and built by the architecture firm Baumschlager-Eberle, Lustena, the fundraising project was hugely popular with Lech’s locals and about one million Euros was raised for its construction. The private art association Horizon Field met all the necessary preconditions and is looking forward to opening this season. More to come This is just a small taste of the things lined up in the region for the season. Full details of everything happening in Lech can be accessed through Lech’s event page and on St. Anton’s event page for what’s happening there, likewise for St. Christoph, Zürs, and Stuben.
